Starter Memory (Memory 01)

This memory is the tale of Yumika's participation in the Student Council War. The story goes something like this:
One of Yumika's friends was attacked by a gang. In response, said friend kind of hospitalized them, and was expelled from college as a result. Of course, Yumika wouldn't stand up for that, and called for a Student Council War, as when she became Student Council President, she would cancel the expulsion. And at her side, was Kirara, who was kind of in love with her, and Yumika's boyfriend, Takehito.
Kirara's part in the Student Council War was mostly gathering information on the competitors and making songs for Yumika to sing during debates, but either way she got to spend a lot of time with Yumika during it and Yumika kind of completely annihilated her competition with her stance of "The Student Council exists to protect the students", and her superior singing and debating skills.
At the end of it all, Yumika became the Student Council President, and Yumika and Kirara had a silly photo taken. Kirara still has that photo in Kyriakos!
So, uh, what is the student council war exactly, you say? Well, from what Kirara knows at this point, it's a tournament based student council election where people participate in "Ethereal Battles" as a form of debate.
At the center of Ethereal battles is the "Ethereal System", which is a fancy radio-based brain interface computer, which allows people to produce special effects from their thoughts and words. This allows debates go from metaphorical battles, to literally stabbing people with your words, and blocking swords with your confidence and knowledge. Of course, since they're not actually "real", no real damage is done, but you still feel pain and exhaustion from it. Usually Ethereal battles go until one side is too tired to continue, showing a clear winner.
Worth noting is that this technology is at least a century ahead of the rest of the technology. Nobody knows who made it or how and it's secret that not even Kirara managed to figure out. It only exists within the school grounds, it does not exist anywhere else in the entire world.
Effect: This one starts Kirara off with a happy memory of Yumika! Yumika is love!
Perhaps more importantly though, it helps push Kirara away from being the shy nature that Kirara's implied to have had before meeting Yumika, by giving her some direction.
Which is to say, gathering information! Gathering information helps ensure everyone's happiness! Gathering information is how you get stuff done!
That and singing. But that's for people who can actually sing, not the people whose job is to make the music.

Gained: Day 39, Nafuna's game
Effect: You are now a Level 0 Ethereal! What does that mean, exactly?
Not a whole lot, to be honest. A Level 0 Ethereal isn't particularly different from a normal human in any visible way. Level 0 Ethereals need the Ethereal System around to manifest their powers, so the only real differences at this point are that they're a bit more sensitive to sounds and the atmosphere.
Basically, a Level 0 Ethereal can feel the emotional levels in the room, split into four main categories (which are also colors):
Red: Passion, excitement, aggression, fire
Green: Protectiveness, Compassion, love, healing, nature, growth
Blue: Apathy, sloth, analytical, contrary, cold, ice, water
Black sadness, pessimism, destruction, darkness, death, decay
Yes, it does include stuff that isn't really an "emotion". Because that makes the atmosphere. Nor is the atmosphere composed entirely of just one, either: It's almost always a bizarre mixture of all the colors at once.
Of course, this doesn't mean one has a telepathic ability or even the ability to tell how people are feeling: What one feels is atmosphere of the room itself, which means that it's hard to differentiate one person's feelings from another's, but one does get a feel for the room itself.
Also, they're very sensitive to music. Bad singing is physically painful to them, while cheerful singing can cheer a person up almost instantly.

Also known as Kirara's story arc for Chapter 2! It is round two of the Student Council War, and their opponent for the round is the "Sports Clubs United", a fusion of all the college's sports clubs and one of the biggest contenders in the war. Of course, before long, the Sports Clubs United starts doing questionable things (which are covered in another memory). While she's fine just letting them do whatever, Kirara's eventually encouraged by the rest of her team working so hard to do something about it that she actually steps in herself, acquiring evidence that they were involved in illegal activities (which once again, are in another memory. Kirara then uses it to blackmail a few of the groups involved in it to stop doing illegal stuff and support the main cast's team. Ayumu, observing this, notes that Kirara could have effectively destroyed the Sports Club United by making that information public, but Kirara says that would be pointless:
"There's a difference between winning and not losing. If we're going to be prepared for what lies ahead, we need to absolutely win against them."
At this, Kirara also notes that there really is a lot more than just the Student Council War going on -- something far more important's at stake, but it's not clear what it is from this memory alone.
Effect: The first and obvious thing that stands out is "Why am I in the Student Council War again?!" After that, she'd probably notice the lack of Yumika before making note of the rest of the team: This is the first time she'll have seen all three of the main characters, so she'll be able to identify them, though not by name. She now recognizes Ayumu, Yumina, and Ai, and will probably identify Yumina as a relative of Yumika, but won't necessarily make the connection that... you know, this is 20 years in the future and that's Yumika's daughter yet. Her team is full of idiots except for her, but they work so hard that they can even push her to go out of her way to help, it's great!
...There's also the whole "okay, there's something more to this than just the Student Council War, but I have no idea what" thing. But otherwise, that's it for this memory. It's trivial for a reason, after all.

Also known as Yumina's arc for Chapter 1! It's the first round of the Student Council War, and Kirara's trying to get Yumina prepared to fight properly. This includes a quick summary of how the Student Council works: The summarized summary given by the game is as follows:
"The student council of Jinbu Academy is quite different from other student councils.
When a new student council president is installed, they stay in power as long as no disasters occur.
But even so, when the normal students band together, they can smash this absolute reign.
It's like an everlasting battle that continuously goes back and forth."
...In essence, the student council has absolute control over it, with the president being able to declare anyone they like as the president, unless a student council war is started to oppose it.
This also includes an explanation for the previous student council president, Kagura Nayuta, who won her own studen council war single-handedly.
Finally, it also goes into why people would fight over it: Every student council president gets a special privilege when they win the war, allowing them to change a single rule in basically any way they like: Kirara recalls some using it to start new clubs, some to change the cafeteria menu, some used it to make a statue in their honor... The list goes on.
Also worth noting is that Yumina, the person Kirara's supporting to the Student Council President is... someone who's on the verge of repeating a grade, who intends to use the privilege to prevent herself from repeating a grade. She is the most idiotic potential student council president ever. And Kirara is supporting her for mysterious reasons.
...Mysterious reasons that become apparent when Kirara overhears Yumina singing to herself one day and notes that she sings like Yumika. Yes, this is what's going to win the war!
Of course, Yumina herself is less than pleased with this situation, but Kirara will not take "no" for an answer: To quote Kirara, "I don't care what you think, I'm not about to let an opportunity slip away from me."
Except Yumina's singing is terrible. It is so terrible it is actually physically painful. However, this isn't something that will stop Kirara. Instead, she begins a spartan singing training camp for Yumina, Where Yumina spends hours and hours trying to appease a karaoke machine Kirara's modded to make a loud bong sound whenever Yumina's singing is too terrible, while Kirara tells her in specific detail exactly what she did wrong. It goes a bit further than that, too: The song Kirara's teaching Yumina to sing? Was made by Kirara specifically with Yumina in mind.
This also includes Yumina's reason for not wanting to sing: Apparently, as a young orphan, she decided to sing as a gift to everyone for Christmas! Except one little kid said her singing sucked and everyone laughed. That day, Yumina swore never to sing again. Kirara is... less than pleased with this situation, and tells Yumina that she needs to grow up, get over it, and sing to college students instead! ...And no, she still doesn't have a choice.
Eventually it gets to the point where Yumina accuses Kirara of being a sadist and getting off on training Yumina so harshly. Kirara's offended by this, not so much by being called a sadist, so much as the idea that she would use Yumina like that. Even if she didn't have standards, Yumina would be off-limits for that kind of thing.
Of course, eventually Yumina's friends find out about it, as they're support members for the Debate Club. They're both awed by Kirara's harsh training methods, and looking forward to Yumina becoming a true idol and singing and dancing -- Kirara notes that dancing isn't necessary, but it might be a good idea.
In that same conversation, she also outright tells them that "this is a serious battle. This singing is nothing more than a weapon." Once everyone else starts to leave for the day, Kirara notes that Yumina is starting to be able to convey her feelings through song: Just as planned.
Finally, after almost a week of this spartan training, Yumina is capable of singing on a passable level! Kirara praises her, but also tells her that this is about more than singing: Yumina's hard work and attempts to have her efforts recognized directly relate to the first round's debate topic:
"Given that every student has different strengths and weaknesses, are standardized tests really a fair system of evaluation?"
Kirara encourages Yumina to use her experience to create her platform for the upcoming debate battle...
Effect/Meanings: Well, this is kind of loaded with information that Kirara can pick up on to identify that something's... odd. But first, we'll focus on the stuff that other people would be able to tell on a view!
First off, one thing that everyone might recognize is that she personally has seen at least four Student Council wars end. That's... quite a bit, considering that the "current" student council president has completely dominated everything since she came into power, as Kirara said right in the memory.
One also gets Yumina's name! ...And the fact that Kirara thinks Yumina's an incompetent idiot, but Kirara's willing to put up with it, because Yumina has a voice like Yumika's. There's a bit of a feeling that Yumina's a tool for something greater, though: Like there's a specific point to trying to put Yumina in charge. Particularly, the line about singing as a weapon seems to have a very strong feeling of truth to it.
Aside from that, it's guiding an experience best described as training from Hell, only with the training being about how to sing. How can Yumina be so terrible at this?! There's a lot of insults there and contradictory "inspirational speeches", too, since Yumina could be so much better than this...
On the other hand, Kirara is actually really really proud when Yumina actually pulls it off! The singing actually still isn't up to par, but Yumina can communicate her feelings through songs! That was the whole point of the training! That's how you sing properly! If you can communicate your feelings through song, the rest will all just come with time! Oh, right. And it's sort of relevant to this round's debate. Let's pretend that was the point of it all, they won't know any better.
As for the stuff Diz would notice based on current memories... A big one is that the area where Yumina practiced, which was noted to be part of the "old school building that nobody ever comes to... Was where a lot of the activity was in her memory of Yumika's Student Council War. Either there was an alarmingly quick restructuring in the college, or quite a bit of time has passed. So... Why is she still in college anyways?
There seems to be some reason for it, and it seems like Yumina probably has something to do with it, but she... doesn't actually know what yet.

Part 2 of Ordacle's Normal Mode story: Upon arriving near Ladda, Veridadia greets the team... Even though she actually seems pretty busy. Kirara asks if it's the usual job, and Veridadia confirms: She's investigating the distortions, which Kirara explains to the team are... literal distortions in space, "as if the structure of space itself is being disrupted". Veridadia confirms that they're showing up in greater and greater frequency, and Kirara is concerned.
Concerned about a potential connection to EDs, Kirara offers to help clear out the monsters in one of the nearby dungeons, Mizelt Tomb -- we were going to train around here anyways, so we can help you out while we're here! Kirara makes a remark about how it's "just another thing you owe me", prompting Ai and Ayumu to note that Kirara is totally manipulating Veridadia.
In the Mizelt Tomb, they fight giant worms, gargoygles, lizardmen, and giant floating eyes that shoot laser beams... Clearing out monsters and distortions as they go, they eventually have to fight a Gale Gryphon: As the name suggests, it is a very fast gryphon. It's a boss fight, but not a particularly interesting one as far as boss fights go.
Once they're finished, they report to Veridadia, who remarks that distortions are appearing all over Midorstan. Kirara notes that that probably means a lot of trouble for Yupcilla, prompting the team to ask who Yupcilla is: Kirara then explains that Yupcilla is Midorstan's princess, which prompts most of the team to remark about how surprising it is that Veridadia is actually a knight, which depresses Veridadia.
Still, they completed their work, so Kirara gets the team together and teleports them back to the academy.
Effect/Meanings: Well, while Kirara's pretending to everyone else that Ordacle is a VR game, she knows it's an actual place, because she teleported them there. The teleporting in and out actually does appear in this memory, but isn't shown on-screen in the game, since the game itself tends to gloss over it. Just know that it's there!
So, uh. What does she get from it? She totally teleported her team over to another world to fight monsters while pretending it's a game. Also, I'm totally friends with a princess and a knight. They're both so great, it's a shame I can't see them more often. But there's no time for that, I have to make sure to get these three trained up to fight!
So I guess what she pulls from this is that... She can totally use what should be holographic sci-fi debate powers... To fight actual monsters? What? Also, these distortion things are a big deal for some reason and I need to figure out if the source is... What? I seem to know something about them in the memory, but... Nope, I have no idea what it is I know.
Ordacle Investigation Intro Script:
Date: 2014-04-15 11:13 pm (UTC)Oh, I see you're here again.
Ayumu:
Hi, Veridadia. You seem busy as always.
Kirara:
Hmm, doing your usual duties, I see.
Veridadia:
Yes. I'm investigating those distortions that Princess Yupcilla spoke about.
Kirara:
...Distortions, right.
Yumina:
Distortions? What are they?
Kirara:
They're literally distortions. It's as if the structure of space itself is being disrupted... Though I don't know the details myself.
Veridadia:
They've started appearing all around Midorstan in recent years, and if they're left alone it can get really dangerous.
Yumina:
...So that's the setting! I'm pretty sure that's foreshadowing how we're gonna save the world!
Veridadia:
Foreshadowing... What's that?
Yumina:
Ah, don't worry about that. It doesn't matter to people inside this game.
Veridadia:
Oh...
Kirara:
Anyways, our next area of training is the Mizelt Tomb. It's good that we found you here, Veridadia.
Kirara:
We're going underground to exterminate the monsters.
Veridadia:
That would be most helpful.
Kirara:
Don't worry, it's just another thing you owe me. Heh heh heh.
Ayumu:
...Don't you think the chief is rather evil when she does that?
Ai:
It would be creepy if she was being altruistic though.
Kirara:
Hey you, I can hear you!
Veridadia:
Well then, I will lead the way!

Well now, it looks like our special training is about to start. You'll have to depend on your own strength to survive the Student Council War. You won't have game characters like Veridadia to rely on. Fortunately you shouldn't recieve any fatal injuries, though they'll be painful.
Your training mission is to investigate the distortions occurring within the labyrinth of Mizelt Tomb. As you explore the dungeon, remember to defeat the monsters as requested. There will probably be a boss fight at the end as well. All right, Veridadia, we're going!

No... This isn't the only place. I heard that the distortions have been appearing all over Midorstan, especially in recent times.
Kirara:
Hmm, so Yupcilla has a lot to worry about.
Veridadia:
Oh, yes! She told me to give you her regards.
Yumina:
By the way, who is Yupcilla?
Kirara:
I think Veridadia mentioned her before... Anyways, she's the princess of Midorstan.
Ayumu:
Wow, so you're a princess' retainer.
Veridadia:
I'm a knight, with full titles.
Yumina:
You really don't look like one, though...
Veridadia:
Ack!!
Kirara:
Either way, we've completed our task. We're going back and taking a rest.

The Debate Club has successfully won the second round of the Student Council Election, defeating the Sports Clubs United handily! However, Tomori, one of the Debate Club's supporters from the start and the little sister of Rei, the leader of the Sports Clubs United, passes out from overexposure to Ethereal fighting, as in terms of Ethereal power levels, she's... dangerously low.
Naturally, Rei's kind of panicked about this, while Kirara takes charge and brings Tomori and Ayumu somewhere isolated, and tells Ayumu: She's basically overdosing on Ethereal powers, so if Ayumu goes into her dreams and has sex with her, she should recover.
Ayumu is... Kind of upset that Kirara didn't explain the reasoning the last time she told Ayumu to have dreamsex with someone, and Kirara counters that he didn't trust her anyways and even if he did and knew the whole truth, he probably still wouldn't do it. Ayumu can't argue back, so Kirara basically tells him: Either help, or get out of the way so I can treat her.
Ayumu gets out of the way, and Kirara treats her through some unmentioned tactic that definitely exists, but has never been shown on-screen.
Effect: Er. I totally just suggested dubcon dreamsex as a solution. And I didn't even tell him the whole reason why. I told him even less the last time I tried to get him to do dubcon dreamsex, apparently.
Let's be honest, there's not a whole lot to gain from this beyond trust issues and Diz giving questionable orders.

Kirara is on a spaceship with Yumika, and since they're getting hungry, they stop by the cafeteria... Whereupon one of the chefs mistakes Kirara for Yumika's little sister, and decides to make a kid's meal based on Earth fast food restaurants. Kirara's insulted by this, but Yumika insists that she shouldn't waste food, and sits across from Kirara, just... watching Kirara eat this Kid's Meal.
This is clearly the most embarrassing thing ever, which is made even worse because the Kid's Meal is so good. Like, it is divine food. Space chefs are amazing.
That's still the girl she's in love with watching her eat something made for kids on a dish shaped like a pink bunny, though. It is so embarrassing she wants to just crawl into a hole somewhere. But this food is so good. Why is it so good? It's not allowed to be this good!
Effect: And thus Diz learned shame in the most ridiculous manner possible. She was also totally on a spaceship with Yumika. There is no explanation for that whatsoever, and space ships definitely aren't that advanced on Earth. What the hell is she missing?!

Having recovered from giving birth, Yumika returns to the Zelerm to help fend off the ED assault. This is very very good - they had been fighting a losing battle without her, and Yumika's husband has been injured seriously enough that at this point he and Yumika are switching places.
Still, Yumika's return is great news to everyone: Everyone's sure that now that she's here, they'll definitely succeed in making a push back! More importantly though, Yumika's back!
...And with baby pictures. No, seriously, Yumika just spends a good chunk of time just stuffing pictures of her baby in people's faces. Yumina's the cutest, right? There's no cuter baby than Yumina, right? Right!
Effect: Yumika is embarrassing. Yumika is super embarrassing. She is still the best, though.
Also, uh... Yumina is Yumika's daughter... Um. If Yumina is Yumika's daughter then that would make Diz at least... nineteen years older than she thought she was...
And I still look like this! How can I be almost forty and still look like this?!
Oh, right. And uh, this is from when Kirara was actively a participant in the war against the ED, so. She knows she was in a war now, though she doesn't know who they're fighting and why.

*Ehem* Allow me to use the Wikipedia article's explanation:
"Leadership has been described as "a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task". For example, some understand a leader simply as somebody whom people follow, or as somebody who guides or directs others, while others define leadership as "organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal"."
So what does that mean exactly? It means that she now knows a variety of motivational techniques, coupled with improved judgement to quickly and efficiently identify the most appropriate role for a person. This also includes knowledge of teaching methods as well.
You might wonder what the difference between this and strategy is, as both are on the registry: I could probably have a rant here, but that can wait until I actually have strategy. For simplicity though, this is basically an improvement on identifying someone's skills and personality, directing them, and teaching them.

Soon after Yumika won the Student Council War, Yumika's boyfriend Takehito reveals that... He's actually an alien, and his real name is Tuquetois Aukaseed. More importantly though, Yumika winning the Student Council War means she's just been recruited to join the Galactic Federation's army to help fight a war against aliens from another dimension known as Extra-Dimensionals, or ED.
Now, technically, this should have just been Yumika, but Kirara insisted on coming along, and Yumika said that if Kirara isn't coming, neither is she, so in the end Tuquetois got the Galactic Federation to agree to bring Kirara along to.
Effect: Well. This is the first mention of EDs, but now she at least has some sort of explanation for it all! Apparently the Student Council War is a space-navy thing that recruits the winners! To fight in a war against aliens from another dimension!
...What is my life.
Aside from that, there's more Yumika-dere! Yumika's so great she's letting me come along on some great space adventure!

Kirara knows how to use a sword pretty well. That being said, her style doesn't entire match up with any sword-style on Earth precisely, both because it's self-taught and because it's probably based on the fighting style of Swordians. Kirara's style itself is built on unpredictability, making it hard to tell how precisely she's going to attack at any specific point in time.
This also comes with a bit of an agility improvement, so she can actually use her style competently, though it still isn't perfect, and there are several vulnerabilities in her fighting style, simply because her body can't quite keep up with her own fighting style yet.
...And also because the fighting style's built on the fact that she would normally use a sword that is umbrella-shaped and weightless for her. She'll need to take time to get used to actual swords as a result.
...Or to make it a bit more clear: At this point, she is a bit below a professional warrior, mostly because a lot of her physical aptitude is in another skill: She's still going to be pretty good with a sword, but someone who's got a lot of experience with swords will probably notice that she can't quite keep up with the moves she's trying to do, so she's a bit slow. Considering that her fighting style emphasizes unpredictability, that means that she's pretty vulnerable against someone who knows a fair bit about swords.

As with all Ethereal abilities, if you don't have it already, it comes with all the things listed under Ethereal Aptitude. As for the skill itself...
This is a teleportation skill, as the name suggests. How exactly it works isn't actually consistently described in-game: Or rather, it seems to change depending on what Kirara's trying to do with it. As this is the basic form, this just allows her to teleport to areas she can physically see, but no further than that, and it requires a bit of preparation time.
In addition, there are a lot of implications that this power also depends a bit on knowledge of math and physics, so taking this also improves one's ability to instinctively calculate things in your head, as well as knowledge of physics. Handy!
Skill 05
Date: 2014-06-11 07:25 am (UTC)Category: Ethereal
The usual Ethereal disclaimer comes into play here: Taking it gives the effects of Ethereal Aptitude as well as what it does by itself.
So, uh. What does it do exactly? Well, this one's kind of complicated to easily describe, since it covers a few things:
First: The words of an Ethereal have a certain weight to them. There's a reason why a lot of Ethereals sing, and that's because expressing feelings and emotions is something that comes naturally to them, and people will naturally feel the effects of it. In that sense, this is essentially mild emotional manipulation in that she can make people feel similar to her.
Secondly: Ethereals tend to be attractive to people. There's a sort of supernatural magnetism there, where she just seems... unnaturally attractive.
Kirara in particular is noted to have an unusually strong Ethereal Charisma -- in fact, it's stated that if she was born in an earlier time than the global warming climate change crisis she was born into, her mere existence probably would have completely rewritten the history of Japan.
*Ehem*
Of course, since she's not technically a full Ethereal yet, all of these effects are muted. They're definitely not as strong as they could be, and most likely can't be used for a whole lot at this point.
tl;dr: Her being emotional can make other people feel the same emotion, and she's a bit more attractive. Yes, that's it.

This is the main story arc for Chapter 2! Round 2 of the Student Council War has begun, and their opponent is the "Sports Clubs United". The Sports Clubs United are considered to have some of the highest influence in the war, and they're generally one of the favorites to win. The leader of the Sports Clubs United, Hinomiya Rei, is also the big brother of Yumika's best friend, Hinomiya Tomori, who has been supporting the Debate Club from the start. As a result, Tomori's unable to give the debate club her support for this round.
More importantly though, Rei is obnoxious, egotistical, and keeps disrupting the Debate Club's speeches. If that were the only problem it wouldn't be a big deal, but for some reason he ends up convinced that Ayumu is trying to seduce Tomori, and declares outright war against the Debate Club.
What does outright war mean, exactly? It mostly means trying to get people to attack them outside of the debate battles system. While getting the entire fencing club to attack the Debate Club is pretty much a minor annoyance normally, except that Tomori wound up caught in the middle of it, and Kirara takes a blow for her without using Ethereal defenses, since that could potentially give Tomori an Ethereal overdose. As a result, Diz is unable to walk for a few hours, though she's perfectly fine after a night's sleep. Either way, this is enough to encourage the rest of the team to actively oppose Rei instead of just focusing on the debate itself. Towards the end of the preparation period, Tomori declares that Ayumu's her boyfriend just to get Rei to stop picking fights with everyone. This ends up knocking Rei off-balance, and gives Ayumu a new idea for a technique!
Effect: Mostly a fair bit of anger, and the memory of taking a blow to protect a person who more or less has nothing to do with her directly. Mostly the anger, though: Dammit Hinomiya, if you want to "protect your sister", the first step would be to not get her caught in the crossfire of your own aggression. Also, the feeling that I could totally have taken the entire fencing club if it weren't for the fact that there was an innocent person to protect.
...Bat that second part's not a surprise when you consider that she remembers fighting through a horde of monsters and fighting a super gryphon in the Ordacle System, though. Some fencing club losers can't really compete with someone with life or death combat experience and Ethereal powers.

It's near the start of the second round of the Student Council War. Kirara is preparing to try to figure out a plan to win the round, but it's not going to be easy, especially considering that there's just the three of them -- they need a Blue badly. And then, during a meeting, a "transfer student" walks in, gives the obviously fake name of Ai Okitsu, claims to have entered the school specifically to join the Debate Club, and insists she is a perfectly normal college student.
Her eyes also change color when she realizes how terrible the cover story is, and Kirara identifies her as an alien -- specifically, a knight from Algoda. We'll go into the implications of that once Kirara actually knows what Algoda is, but for now it's mostly worth noting that Kirara manages to conceal a bit of panicking here: They assigned an alien to us? How much do they know about me? When did I get caught? They're on to me, aren't they?
After a moment she calms down and allows Ai to join, to the obvious weakness the team has of lacking any Blues.
Effects: This is the first time where Diz really ends up seeing just how completely paranoid she is for the most part: Everyone is plotting against her, she can't let the Galactic Federation know what she's planning -- the Galactic Federation wasn't even supposed to know she was still alive! And then ultimately she concludes that it's easier to control information if Ai's a team mate and from a practical perspective they do actually need the help. So this also gives her more of a willingness to work with people she doesn't trust. That's probably a good thing... right?

Nobody really came to talk to us. I figured we'd be famous by now.
Kirara:
Hmph, that's not surprising. We might have beaten the odds, but the Library Committee wasn't exactly well known either.
Kirara:
It's only natural that a big organization like theirs has received much more attention.
Yumina:
We're back to square one... If only there was an easy way to victory.
Ayumu:
Oh, you're starting to think like me. That makes me happy, Yumina.
Yumina:
Hey, cut that out! I can't think like you, the stains would never wash out of my mind!
Ayumu:
You're making me sound like I'm curry udon juice...
Kirara:
Heh, no need to get anxious. There may not be an easy way out, but there is a way that has a high probability of success.
Kirara:
Make yourself stronger while making your enemy weaker. That should be the core of all our activities.
Yumina:
So basically we need to find out what their weakness is?
Kirara:
That's right. I'm counting on your efforts.
Ayumu:
It's going to be tough, though. Especially with that business with him being Tomori's brother...
[The door is thrown open dramatically by Ai]
Ayumu:

Kirara:

Ayumu:
...Are you a visitor?
Yumina:
Huh? Um, who are you?
Kirara:

Kirara:
...This is the Debate Club. Do you need something?
Ai:
That is correct. I am here for a reason.
Yumina:
Wh-who are you? You know her, Kirara?
Ai:
I am Okitsu Ai, first year transfer student in Jinbu Academy. I've transferred in today.
Yumina:
A transfer student, now? And why did you come here so suddenly?
Ai:
I'm here to join the Debate Club. Okay?
Yumina:
??!?!?
Ayumu:
Uh, what...? You're joining just like that?
Ai:
That's right. I'm in the Debate Club as of today.
Ayumu:
Um, I don't think it's a done deal... Or is it? Kirara?
Kirara:
Don't ask me. I'm as surprised as you are.
Ai:
...Has there been some kind of mistake?
Kirara:
...Whatever. Do you have an application?
Ai:
Application...?
Kirara:
I'm talking about a document. Regulations dictate that you need one.
Ai:
A document...
Ai:

Yumina:
Y-you don't need to be that shocked.
Ai:
I forgot to get one from Kotonashi...!
Ayumu:
What, the principal? Why would you mention him without his title...?
Ai:
I'll go get one right away...!
Kirara:
...No, that's okay. I've got a form right here.
Kirara:
Are you sure you don't want to join on trial first? Joining a club on your first day seems very sudden.
Ai:
That's okay. I transferred here for this very purpose. Joining the Debate Club is my objective.
Kirara:
What...? What do you mean?
Ai:
...? Is there a problem?
Kirara:
You transferred to this school so you could join our club? You took the entrance exams and moved into a dorm just so you could join a club with only three members?
Yumina:
What? What? What's going on...?
Ayumu:
That's really fishy... Are you a spy from Sports Clubs United or something...?
Ai:
...
Ai:
...!!
Yumina:
Look, I told you not to be so shocked.
Ai:
I made a mistake. I transferred to this academy because of circumstances at home.
Ai:
I'm joining this club because I learned about the student council war, and I took an interest in the activities of Midorishita Yumina
Yumina:
What, me? You're telling me you're a fan!?
Yumina:
Awww, now I'm feeling all shy! Don't surprise me like that!
Ayumu:
...Please, Yumina. Don't actually buy her story.
Kirara:
...
Ai:
Is there something wrong?
Ayumu:
What do we do, chief?
Kirara:
Give me a minute, I need to think...
Yumina:
A new fan of mine is always welcome! Come now, take a seat, take a seat!
Ai:
I believe I will.
Kirara:
...
[Ai sits down next to Yumina and a few minutes pass while Kirara tries to decide what to do about all this.]
Ayumu:
Hey, chief... You usually make that evil face, but I bet you didn't see this coming.
Kirara:
...That's true. But it shouldn't be a problem... I think.
Ayumu:
Hm? You're being rather reserved, chief.
Kirara:
Of course I am. I never thought they'd mess with the club directly...
Ayumu:
Directly? What do you mean...
Kirara:
Found it. Here's an application for joining the club. If you want to join, just sign over here.
Ai:
Very well. Lend me a pen.
[Kirara ignores the question in favor of helping Ai do the paperwork, yes.]
Ai:
I've signed it. Now I'm a member of your club.
Kirara:
Formally speaking, you have to submit this to the teachers. But you can start your club activities today as far as I'm concerned.
Yumina:
We have a powerful ally now! Our numbers have increased by 30%!
Ai:
I wish to be by your side until you become the next student council president.
Ai:
Leader, Yumina, Ayumu. I look forward to working with you.
Ayumu:
...Hold it.
Ai:
Is something amiss?
Ayumu:
Yumina, fine. But how does a transfer student like you know my name?
Ai:

[Ai's eyes change from blue to red.]
Ai:

Yumina:
Whoa, her eyes! They look hostile!!

Kirara:
Looks like you two are going to make a good pair...
Ai:
Once again, I am Okitsu Ai, first year student. I'm happy to have joined your club.
Ayumu:
Yeah, welcome to the club... Chief, how should we treat her? As an auxiliary, just like Naoto and Tomori?
Kirara:
Actually, no...
Ai:
No need for concern. My etheral abilities are on par with yours.
Yumina:
Your... ethereal abilities?
Kirara:
...She means the ability to interface with the system. In the context of our club, that would be her strength in battle.
Ai:
Exactly. Therefore, I can be of use in debate battles.
Ayumu:
So... She's a full member?
Kirara:
...Full members of the Debate Club are expected to partake in debate battles. Is that what you want, Okitsu?
Ai:
I think what I want isn't as relevant as what you want. Right now, your club lacks manpower.
[Ai takes a model gun out of her sleeve.]
Yumina:
What? Wait, are you trying to rob us or something!?
Ai:
This is my weapon, my mental focus.
[She closes her eyes, and her toy gun transforms into... her ethereal weapon, a double-barreled full-size handgun.]
Ayumu:
So that's your ethereal aptitude?
Ai:
No words or logic can stand against me. I excel at keeping my opponent under control.
Ai:
The Debate Club needs my bullets... This I know for a fact.
Kirara:

Yumina:
W-wow! The future looks a lot brighter now! I can tell you're not ordinary fan!
Yumina:

Kirara:
True... It's just as you say.
Kirara:

Ai:
Yes, that will be fine. I will do whatever is in my power as a full member.

At this point, her body can actually keep up with her skills. Her agility, dexterity, and strength have all increased: She is now at the level of a veteran soldier. The most obvious thing is apparent to accomplished fighters: Pretty much any openings she had previously seem to have disappeared, and some of the few openings her style does show are traps: Her fighting style's always been about unpredictability and controlling the enemy's moves, and now her entire body's capable of matching it.
In addition to that, Diz now has the ability to switch fighting styles almost instantly, which doesn't really have an immediate use. On the other hand, if a person knew how to use multiple types of weapons, they could switch between swordfighting to using axes to dual-wielding guns without even having to shift their fighting stance. This will be very helpful later, once she has her transforming weapon and skill with both swords and spears.

In response to this, Yumika kind of has a significant breakdown, and agrees to join up with the Galactic Federation in eliminating the ED threat once and for all, marking who true participation in the war.
Also in response to it, Yumika and Kirara work together to create a song encapsulating all of Yumika's feelings of loss and pain and watching her family die in front of her eyes and not being able to do anything, ultimately creating Yumika's primary song, "In Pain/In Vain", which she would use to fight the EDs.
Effect: This is the first memory Diz has of EDs doing their... Thing. And that thing is eating people and reality itself. Welp, guess her world had Reapers, too. Reapers that she appears to have been fighting with Yumika 20 years ago... That doesn't bode well, does it?

Kirara's team is in the third round of the Student Council War: This time, they're against the "Shrine Maiden Committee", which managed to somehow get the role of being in charge of all religious services in the school.
More importantly, they have a lot of power, and seem to be able to brainwash the students into following them. Kirara sends Yumina and Ayumu off to investigate them, and it... Kind of ends explosively: It turns out that Yumina and one of the leaders of the Shrine Maiden Committee have absolutely terrible compatibility, and within a few minutes, it degraded into a shouting match. But more important, it meant that the team's earned the Shrine Maiden Committee's antagonism.
Absolutely every time they try to run a speech, some members of the Shrine Maiden Committee pop out of nowhere to start a fight and derail Yumina's speech, prompting a debate battle. After going through several of these, Kirara concludes that getting the team into debate battles is in fact the entire point, as planned by that same leader of the Shrine Maiden Committee that really really hates Yumina.
However, in the middle of one speech, something magical happens: Yumina's audience chases the Shrine Maiden Committee agitators out when they try to start a fight! People honestly believe in Yumina and want to hear what she says! With their plan derailed, the leader of the Shrine Maiden Committee leaves in a huff, knowing she lost this time. Kirara of course, was standing on the sidelines watching all of this happening. And she is so proud of Yumina having managed to get everyone's support, you have no idea. She is so proud of her not-daughter.
Effect: So much pride in Yumina. So many maternal feelings for her. So yes, more of a heightening of maternal feelings in general, and pride in Yumina's accomplishments. You've really grown from that idiot that could barely hold a tune, Yumina!

Kirara wants to test how the Shrine Maiden Committee is doing their brainwashing. How to test that? Naturally, by doing the same thing!
After abducting some of the Shrine Maiden Committee's followers and using Yumina's singing with some Ethereal power for several hours non-stop, they became fanatical Yumina followers.
The other members of the Debate Club are mildly creeped out about this (including Yumina herself), but Kirara says that this was mostly an experiment to verify if the Shrine Maidens were doing something similar with their own Ethereal power. The conclusion? They totally did.
Kirara then notes that this means their brainwashing can be undone through the use of Ethereal power.
Effect: As one might expect from a trivial neutral memory... Not a whole lot. It does indicate that Ethereal powers can be used for brainwashing, and also gives her some knowledge of how to undo brainwashing via Ethereal power.

Though it's called "strategy", this mostly focuses on tactics for squad-level engagements and guerrilla warfare: Basically, the concept of fighting much larger armies with a group of only three to four people.
This does include knowledge of common large-scale tactics and strategy, ranging from army level tactics including air superiority, to science-fiction space warfare tactics, including the weak points of several types of battleships. It also seems to include more Ethereal-specific stuff, such as the "Ethereal Formation"; A squad level tactic built around the concept of one Ethereal fighting on the front-lines while another three take place in the back as support.
tl;dr: Guerrilla warfare and science fiction fantasy tactics!

Actually listening to them and not just memorizing everything to pass it to a report to her higher-ups in space! She's actually starting to depend on us as much as we're depending on her!
Effect: That reduces some of Diz's paranoia a bit. Ai's dependable, and can be counted on. She likes us, and we like her. She's completely lacking in common sense and obsessed with food, but she's still a member of our team so I care about her a lot.

This is the period of time between Kirara finding out about Yumika's death, and the start of canon. Which means that this one memory covers the events of about 20 years! Yes.
Thanks to Kirara's connections, she was able to remain on the college campus as a "first year student", though she still had to participate in classes. In addition, Yumika's Debate Club was allowed to remain running, even with Kirara being the only member, as their way of showing respect for Yumika. However, since Kirara was "dead" as far as most of the universe knew, she couldn't have things like a paper trail: She remained as an eternal student on campus, staying on campus for three years, before having to "disappear" to Midorstan for three years while the school cycles through people after she graduated. Once that finished, she would go back to the college as a first year student for three years until graduation and do it all over again this multiple times over the course of 20 years.
Of course, since Kirara actually gets attached to people really easily when it comes down to it, she probably had a lot of close friendships that she... kind of had to immediately abandon and never speak to again because she couldn't afford to have anyone know she was around.
Also during the periodic bursts of being at college, she continues tracking the rise to power of Galeorn, an admiral in the navy that would ultimately become the President of the Universe... Built on a platform of demonizing Ethereals. This is 20 years of watching the minority you're a part of get increasingly treated like monsters, while actual reality-eating monsters slowly become more and more common across the universe. And also knowing that every single friend you make is someone you will never be allowed to speak to again in your entire life.
She does not age a single day during any of this. This just helps to reinforce her belief that she herself is no longer human and is no longer capable of being human. So of course it's fine if she has no friends, because she's a monster anyways. The one thing she looks forward to is the time when Yumina grows up, and she can finally avenge Yumika's death. If she can avenge Yumika, maybe all of it will be worth it.
Effects: Ahahaha... so many trust issues from this memory alone. Including an unhealthy helping of self-hatred, disgust with how the universe has turned out without Yumika in it, a strong heaping of vengeance impulses, and of course it's doused in hating absolutely everything. Especially herself.
This memory also reveals that Yumika's dead back home, which uh. Diz will probably not respond well to at all, since her entire motivation for rebuilding her world was... bringing Yumika back to life. Whoops?

Kirara tends to spend her weekends gardening the old flowers that Yumika used to take care of. She even has her own cute little watering can for it which is super embarassing, but also super cute.
One time Ayumu catches her watering the flowers, and while Kirara desperately tries to think up an excuse, Ayumu just kind of thinks of the entire thing as a good trait. Yes.
Effects: Well, now she wants to do some gardening. Otherwise, that's it. It's a pointless, silly memory. That's why it's trivial.

There's a span of time between Kirara getting discovered by Yupcillia and Veridadia, and actually heading back to her own world. We're never actually told how long it was or what she did during this time, beyond it being the source of a lot of her skills: She basically spent her time in Ordacle adventuring with Yupcillia and Veridadia, training her ability to fight.
During that time, she basically strengthened her Ethereal powers enough to actually become a Level 1 Ethereal, as well as training how to fight with multiple weapons. This is the time where she became a teleport specialist, yes. She basically stayed and trained in Ordacle until she gained enough power to be able to control her powers enough to teleport back to her own world.
I generally place this span of time as about a year overall, but due to time differences between Ordacle and Radosseus (Kirara's home universe), she was actually only missing from her own universe for about two months.
Effects: Well, she'll feel a lot more confident in her fighting abilities thanks to remembering lots of experiences fighting monsters. She'll also have a lot more dere for Yupcillia and Veridadia.

Once Yumika dedicated herself to fighting in the war against the Extra-Dimensionals, the tides began to turn: With Yumika, Tuquetois, and Karales, a knight from the planet Algoda, known as the world of Ethereals, it seemed like a matter of time before the EDs could be pushed back.
Both Tuquetois and Karales were both frontline combatants, who fought EDs directly (...in space. Without any protective equipment), but the real star of the show was Yumika: With Yumika's singing, even ordinary people could fight like Ethereals.
Well, they couldn't fly around in space or fight without protective equipment, but normal weapons would actually work on Ethereals when Yumika was singing! This gave a pretty significant advantage in what was a one-sided battle without Ethereals.
So what was Kirara doing during this? Learning to speak a bunch of alien languages. Learning to hack fancy sci-fi space tech. Learning tactics. Learning everything she could... But in the end, she couldn't actually directly help any of the three. Pretty much everyone aboard the battleship Zelerm knew that Kirara was Yumika's "extra". Including Kirara herself.
Effects: "I was useless to Yumika and no good at anything, the best I could do was to do what I usually did and learn everything I could. But in the end, that's still not enough to help Yumika as much as... Anyone else."
So, significant drop in self-esteem, but Yumika is so awesome guys. You would not believe how great Yumika is. Best Ethereal ever, the absolute best. Huge Yumika-dere boost.
She also gets infodump on Algoda at last! Or at least, a bit of it:
Algoda is, technically speaking, a single-planet nation: Algoda itself is a planet that has the unusual claim to fame of being the only known planet to have an enormous population of Ethereals: Ethereals are ridiculously rare in post-scarcity societies, but while most post-scarcity societies barely even have one Ethereal a planet born, Algoda has maintained a population that is almost 100% composed of Ethereals.
Perhaps more impressive however, is that Algoda has managed to maintain itself as an independant entity from the Galactic Federation, which includes almost all space-faring peoples in the universe. Not only that, that same political maneuvering actually states that all Ethereals are legally Algodan citizens. Algoda is truly the nation of Ethereals.
the planet Algoda itself is quite beautiful from orbit, though it also has a somewhat unique trait from space: The planet is surrounded by what's known as "The Cerulean Storm" by Algodans: It's something of a gigantic storm of cosmic radiation that covers Algoda's orbit, which makes it very hard to enter or leave the planet's orbit without specialized equipment... Equipment that only Algoda has access to. As such, trips to the actual surface of Algoda are exceedingly rare: Most Ethereals will never see the surface of Algoda personally, and native Algodans that leave the planet are unlikely to return for most of their lives.
The culture of Algoda is one that tends to shun the idea of individuality: Algodans are raised to believe that one's contribution to society is more important than anything else. "Sacrificing oneself for the group" is in fact considered to be every Algodan's sacred duty, and as such most Algodans are fiercely protective of other Ethereals, and a great deal of the Algodans powerful enough to fight volunteer to help fight in the war against the EDs.
Among the Algodans however, there is one thing which is considered to be the highest honor an Ethereal can achieve. On Algoda, there is a city personally established by the ruler of Algoda: Only the greatest of Ethereals can live there. And we do mean "only the greatest": Being able to live there, while a great honor, does not mean that family or friends are allowed to live there: Only the greatest Ethereals can live there, and anyone who's not one of the greatest Ethereals is simply... Not allowed in. Non-Ethereals are not allowed, nor are Ethereals who simply aren't good enough. Only the greatest are allowed in, and most Algodans in the Federation spend their entire lives hoping to one day be granted the honor of living there.
Of course Karales, being the greatest Ethereal in the universe before Yumika showed up, already has a place there. However, while many Algodans would choose to retire at that point, Karales continues to fight on the front lines for the sake of the people of the universe!

To be filled in once I go through the game again to review it again! But basically, Diz is secretly freaking out because it might be EDs, but it eventually turns out that it's something completely unrelated to EDs (at this point), and is just some weird aspect of Ordacle.

The Midorstan language has been stated to exist and that Kirara speaks it fluently. It's the language used in the Ordacle adventures by anyone not our main cast: Thankfully, Kirara taught her friends and the butler Japanese, so that they can actually participate in conversations with the actual team.
But seriously, we know nothing about the grammar or anything. We just know it exists, everyone that the cast interacts with in the Ordacle missions speaks it, and Kirara is fluent. Presumably, Kirara acts as interpreter for the quest dialogues.
But seriously, that's all we know about it.

Well, as always, it comes with Level 0 Ethereal by default. But more importantly! This is a series of required secondary powers that basically amount to the ability to make speak and be heard in space and fly around in space without any sort of protective gear.
So in practice this gives the following and presumably more abilities:
Free movement in zero-gravity conditions.
Protection from extreme temperatures.
Protection from radiation.
Protection from low-pressure environments.
The ability to breathe even when there's nothing to breathe. Alternatively, it eliminates the need to breathe in the first place.
the ability to transmit sound even over vacuum. Alternatively, this actively causes sound to create an environment so that it can transmit itself where ever it goes.
...Because yes, Ethereals can casually fly around and hold conversations in space over a large distance without any sort of protective equipment whatsoever. This is something that comes up. It's never given any explanation to speak of. Just go with it.
